‘GUERRILLA GUIDE TO POLITICS’ RECEIVES TELLY AWARD AND COMMUNICATOR CRYSTAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

BOULDER, COLORADO – March 2005, Fascinating Learning Factory, a 501c3 non-profit corporation, has received the coveted TELLY AWARD and the  COMMUNICATOR CRYSTAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE for it's television pilot, "GUERRILLA GUIDE TO POLITICS”(GGP).

GGP is aimed at the large and underserved audience of middle school age students and their families.   It was created by Jim Rettew, a professor of Political Communications at CU-Boulder and a political activist.

Learning Factory’s Executive Director, Bunnie Strassner says, “ When Jim (Rettew) brought the original idea to us, we were immediately impressed with its sense of fun and irreverence, while staying true to the educational aspects of the program.  It showed his genuine ability to use the medium of television to communicate.   We all feel strongly about the lack of strong civics education in the country and have devoted a great deal of time and materials to the production and marketing of the pilot.  These awards are just a sign that we’re doing something right.”

Rettew adds, “We feel that today’s young people are more alienated than apathetic.   Guerrilla Guide breaks through the wall of indifference by speaking to them in their own language without preaching or condescending.”

GUERRILLA GUIDE TO POLITICS is being developed under the supervision of the Fascinating Learning Factory, a 501c3 non-profit corporation and has aired in several major markets via public television and commercial channels.
